Gunny can take the fuss out of building a primary weapon in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, but it won't do much for the PM-40 Anvil. The launcher has no attachments for the automated loadout builder to select, so you'll need to think about the rest of your class yourself. That matters whether you're trying a new setup in regular matches or looking at MW4 Bot Lobbies as a place to practise. Pick a primary that feels comfortable at the distances where you expect to fight, then save the Anvil for moments when a single explosive round can shift a crowded room.
What the Anvil Does Well
You'll unlock the PM-40 at player level 54. It's a pump-action 43mm grenade launcher with a three-round capacity, six more rounds in reserve, and a listed fire rate of 38 RPM. Those numbers tell only part of the story, though. The Anvil is most useful when opponents are packed around a doorway or defending an indoor objective. Fire into open ground and it's much harder to get the same value. It also has no lock-on feature, unlike the PILA or JOKR, so don't expect it to follow a moving aircraft for you.
Where Customisation Ends
There's no Gunsmith menu for this launcher, and that means no alternate ammunition, reload attachments or handling upgrades. You can't make it track targets, either. Its 46 weapon levels still give you something to work toward: progression leads to camo milestones and eventually Weapon Prestige. Just don't expect an Apex Attachment along the way. If the reload feels awkward, plan around it rather than looking for a part to fix it. Take cover before topping up, and keep your primary ready when a fight moves beyond the launcher's comfortable range.
Choosing the Rest of Your Class
Movement perks and faster weapon swaps are worth considering because they'll help you get the launcher out when an opportunity appears. Your primary should handle the fights the Anvil doesn't, particularly longer sightlines and quick one-on-one encounters. Gunny can help assemble that primary from attachments you've already unlocked, but check the result yourself. A setup that feels good on its own isn't always the right partner for a secondary built around short bursts of area damage. Think about your route through the map, too. If you're rarely near enclosed objectives, you may not get many chances to use the launcher.
Making Each Round Count
Carry the Anvil in your secondary slot and bring it out when enemies bunch up, not every time you see movement. A stationary ground vehicle can be a useful target, but airborne threats are a tougher proposition without tracking and with a small blast radius. In Bot Lobbies MW4, players can practise judging distance and timing before taking those habits into other matches. Watch where your rounds land, learn which doorways give you a clear shot, and leave yourself a safe route back to cover. You'll progress the weapon as you play, while keeping enough ammunition for the moments when it can make a difference.
