Greater Temper scrolls should lead the Diablo 4 Eternal preparation order, with Obducite added after the scroll reserve reaches its launch floor and gold kept for repairs, occultist costs, and market fills. While normal farming remains the default, D4 Gold can cover routine costs while keeping the launch reserve intact.
Set the Season 16 Resource Order
Scrolls gate the Greater Temper craft itself, so a large gold total does not solve a short scroll supply. Obducite supports the craft after the scroll is available, which makes it the second target rather than the first.
Write three numbers in one note: scrolls, Obducite, and gold. Add a minimum scroll floor for the first week of Season 16, then refuse Eternal crafts that would push the count below that line.
Use Dense Farm Blocks First
Helltide chests and dense elite packs are the first farming choice when clear speed stays high. Slow clears waste the session because the value comes from completing more dense encounters, not from lingering in one area.
Nightmare Dungeon speed setups are a good second route when they already fit the Eternal character. They provide a repeatable block without forcing every session into a full Pit push.
Open the character inventory and confirm the current scroll, Obducite, and gold totals.
Start a timed dense-farm segment focused on Helltide chests or fast Nightmare Dungeon clears.
Return to town, open the stash, and record the new totals before starting another activity.
Use the vendor or occultist loop only after the farm segment, then compare the count against the written floor.
A successful block ends with a visible increase in the stash or character total and a matching entry in the note. If a segment produces zero scrolls twice, remove that activity from the next template instead of extending the session with hopeful overtime.
Reserve Scrolls Before Spending
Keep the Season 16 reserve separate from general material clutter in the Eternal stash. A dedicated tab or clearly labeled stack reduces accidental spending on low-value tempers during idle sessions.
Assign one scroll reservation to every planned Greater Temper before launch week. Unreserved crafts create panic purchases later, especially when several Greater Affix items need attention at once.
Character ownership also matters. Count scrolls sitting on alts, not only the shared tab shown at login, and set a written borrowing limit for any seasonal alt that will use the Eternal supply.
Pair Obducite Without Draining the Reserve
Once the scroll floor is safe, move one farm block toward Obducite so both resources rise together. Do not salvage a needed ancestral item just to fill Obducite during a session where scrolls remain the short resource.
A simple resource firewall keeps experimental gear from consuming the launch pile. Toys can spend surplus only after the scroll and Obducite counts remain above their written limits.
Review the firewall every three Eternal sessions. Include items on secondary characters and any material held outside the main shared tab, then record the result beside the gold total.
Control Gold and Market Fills
Gold still covers repairs, occultist costs, and market purchases, but it should not replace scroll farming. Meet the scroll floor first, then direct excess gold toward purchases that support temper readiness.
Set a maximum unit price before checking the auction house. Stage purchases instead of filling the entire reserve in one click, since a large order can raise the visible price for the next fill.
Never sell below the personal floor just to make the stash look tidy. If the auction house has no suitable listing, farm rather than refreshing the same page for twenty minutes.
Use a Clear Contingency Rule
Write an abort line before the session starts: two failed cycles mean an immediate switch to the named replacement activity. The replacement should be decided in advance so a poor result does not turn into random activity hopping.
Keep Obducite-related resources outside contingency spending. After the switch, record one sentence explaining why the floor failed, then use that note to change tomorrow's route.
Measure progress per hour with the same session length each time. Loot bursts can look impressive while the actual scroll rate falls below the target, so keep the written measurement above short-term excitement.
Before the next Eternal session, open the stash, recount scrolls on every character, and compare the total with the Season 16 floor. Then choose one dense farm block, reserve the matching Obducite goal, and review Diablo 4 materials for sale only after the farm route and spending limit are fixed.
